GOMACO’s New G22 Takes Controls To The Next Step At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008

G22 controlsGOMACO has revolutionized their machine control system and has introduced the new G22 digital control system. It features a dual language option and an easy to understand graphical display with colored pictograms which depict the machine’s functions. The new technology will be displayed on several of the machines in the GOMACO booth, #C-5657, in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The G22 was built on the technology and user-friendliness of the G21 system and has improved on those features. The G22’s dual language option is available in both English and the customer’s language of choice. GOMACO machines already in the field with the G21 controller can be upgraded to the new G22.

Its operator interface has been redesigned to include colored screens with pictograms which reduces the operator’s learning curve to a minimum. The newly designed icons and colored graphical display make the G22 easy for the operator to learn, to understand and to identify the various machine functions. Fourteen function buttons, bright colored graphics and full text explanations provide the ultimate user-friendly operator experience.

The G22 display features the new TFT (Thin Film Transfer) flat panel technology with an anti-glare display screen and sensor-controlled backlight levels. It’s rugged, too. Its shock resistant construction protects it from dust, moisture and rain.

It has also simplified machine steering controls. The exclusive G22 provides push-button steering setup and trainable track steering because it’s interfaced with GOMACO “smart” cylinders. The controller allows the operator to teach the “smart” cylinders to set a desired degree of leg rotation, so the tracks do not strike any objects in minimum-clearance or zero-clearance requirements. The operator can override this setting at any time.

Advanced system diagnostics on the G22 automatically pinpoint and identify electrical circuit opens, shorts and fault codes to aid in troubleshooting. A bright yellow LED light alerts the operator and the G22 pinpoints the fault with a full explanation and recommended action. That means less downtime and a quicker uptime on service because the G22 actually helps eliminate costly service time searching for system problems.

The G22 controls interface with stringless technology/3D control systems. It has a true network architecture to enhance expandability and gives it the ability to communicate with external computer systems. Laptops can be connected for software updates, data monitoring and data logging capabilities. It can also be programmed with the optional auto-transition software system for curb and gutter. The system allows the operator to automatically transition in and out of a “catch” or “spill” gutter. It automatically compensates for mold position in relationship to the stringline as a result of the slope changes.

The G22 will be featured in the various languages of the world on several of the GOMACO machines at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008. GOMACO will also be unveiling several new innovations within their complete line of paving equipment.
