Registration is Open for 2016 GOMACO University School Year

Dennis Clausen, GOMACO University’s Director of Training, has announced plans for the 2016 school year.

Ida Grove, Iowa – Dennis Clausen, GOMACO University’s Director of Training and 38 year veteran at the University, has announced plans for the upcoming school year. The 2016 GOMACO University season offers a full course schedule covering the GOMACO product line, as well as 3D machine guidance and concrete mix design. All three of the major 3D guidance systems will be featured with specialized classes on Leica Geosystems PaveSmart 3D, Trimble 3D, and Topcon’s mmGPS solution. Paul Okamoto will return to GOMACO University again this year to teach special sessions on concrete mix design, starting with the basics and leading into more advanced topics.

The 2016 GOMACO University season begins in January and classes run through April. The classes include sessions on specific models of GOMACO equipment, and cover everything from machine setup, controls system, troubleshooting, and more in both lectures in the classroom and hands-on shop time.

“Technology is constantly improving GOMACO’s concrete pavers,” Clausen said. “Students should come to the University this year to find out how technology is changing the way we pave, and what the new technology can do for them.”

The 2016 GOMACO University schedule is listed below:

GT-3600: January 26-29, February 23-26, March 15-18 at the University. The course will cover controls, setup and operation of the GT-3600.

GT-3200: January 12-15 at the University. The course will cover controls, setup and operation of the GT-3200.

G+® Diagnostics: January 12-15 at the Paving Center, and February 16-19 at the University. The course will cover maintenance and diagnostics for curb & gutter machines and pavers equipped with G+ control systems.

G21 & G22 Diagnostics for Curb & Gutter: March 8-11 at the University. The course will cover maintenance and diagnostics for machines equipped with G21 & G22 control systems. Micro and Network systems will be discussed as needed.

Three-Track Commander III (Intro.): January 19-22, February 9-12, March 22-25 at the University. The course will cover controls, setup and operation of the three-track Commander III.

Four-Track Commander III: February 2-5, March 1-4 at the University. The course will cover controls, four-track barrier and paver setup and operation, and paving to profilograph specifications.

Trimmers: January 26-29, March 22-25 at the Paving Center. The course will cover controls, setup, operation, maintenance and advanced diagnostics.

Two-Track & Four-Track Pavers Operation: January 5-8, February 2-5, and March 1-4 at the Paving Center, and March 29-April 1 at the University. The course will cover controls, setup, operation, optional attachments (excluding the IDBI), and paving to profilograph specifications.

Concrete Mix Design: February 15-16, February 17-18 at the Paving Center. A special 1.5 day class will include basic concrete mix design, and move into advanced topics. Items being discussed include mix materials, the mix design process, the optimization of mixes, compatibility, edge slump, setting time problems, troubleshooting, and how mix design can affect rideability. The session will be taught by Paul Okamoto, who is well known in the industry for his knowledge of concrete mixes. Two sessions are offered and start at 1 p.m. the first day of each session. An abbreviated one-half day version of the Concrete Mix Design class will be offered Monday afternoon, February 29, prior to the start of the Two-Track & Four-Track Pavers and the Four-Track Commander III operation classes. The abbreviated class will also be offered Monday afternoon, March 28, prior to the start of the Two-Track & Four-Track Pavers and IDBI classes.

G21 & G22 Paver Diagnostics: March 8-11 at the Paving Center. The course will cover maintenance and advanced diagnostics for G21 & G22 control systems. Micro and Network systems will be discussed as needed.

C-450: April 5-8 at the University. The course will cover controls, setup, operation, maintenance, and diagnostics.

IDBI: March 29-April 1 at the Paving Center. The course will cover controls, setup, operation, maintenance, and diagnostics.

GOMACO/Leica Geosystems PaveSmart 3D Training: January 19-22 and February 9-12 at the Paving Center, and April 12-15 at the University. The course will cover use of Leica Geosystem’s PaveSmart 3D software for concrete slipform paving. Includes software setup, maintenance, and operation along with use on placer/spreaders and curb and gutter. The course will cover the Leica handheld rover with VIVA software. Basic grade checking, stakeout, volumes and areas, data import and export will be covered. Diagnostics will conclude the course.

GOMACO/Trimble 3D Training: February 23-26 at the Paving Center. The course will cover use of Trimble’s PCS900 software for concrete slipform paving. Includes machine setup and operation and use of Trimble’s data collection software. Diagnostics will conclude the course.

GOMACO/Topcon 3D Training: April 5-8 at the Paving Center. The course will cover use of Topcon’s mmGPS solution for concrete curb and gutter paving. Includes machine operation as well as data collection/grade verification. Diagnostics will conclude the course.
